BBC play “Live in the Beautiful”

Thanks to the BBC’s John Kerr for spinning our song Live in the Beautiful on The Late Show earlier in the week. He struggled a bit with our name - it means “I dream” in Spanish but ye don’t need to say it with a Spanish accent!! :-) Take a listen to the clip below to hear his warm words - or better still hit the button to stream the full show which is definitely worth a listen. Even some Declan O’Rourke on there so nice company to be keeping.,,X

It’s been quiet here

We know, we know - it’s been a while. OK a year. But good things come to those who wait. We spent 2023 making a record. We worked - as we always do - remotely. This time with a Canadian producer called Marcus Paquin. Marcus produced some of our favourite records - The Suburbs by Arcade Fire, Trouble Will Find Me by The National, Ignorance by The Weather Station. Marcus helped us to create ten beautiful songs about life, death, love and hate. It is a celebration of personal resilience - prevailing in a world where that is becoming increasingly difficult to do. It is called The Age of Self Help and it is out this Summer. Starting from this Friday (19 April 2024), we have plans to release a number of tracks from the album to slowly draw you into its charms. Join with us on this gathering, this unveiling, this journey. It is not too late to save yourselves. X

Shockin’ good review

“When Colm O’Connell and Rory McDaid got back together remotely during Covid, the resulting Travalog was a breath of fresh air. Two years on, Sew Change, the new album from Rezo is even more remarkable.”

“Sew Change is proof that Rezo are still at the forefront of generating fresh and creative collages of sound. It shows that when you choose to colour outside the lines, the most interesting shades can sometimes appear. This is what great music is capable of being.”

Folk Radio UK

Need we say more??

Did that just happen?

It exists! Sew Change officially launched to the world last Friday. Apologies for the belated blog - we’ve been wetting the baby’s head as it were. In Copenhagen of all places. Which is where this lovely pic was taken. There are others (equally as pretty if I do say so myself) in the Gallery - though in no particular order. Anyways the Danes were digging the Rezo and we think you will too. Give Sew Change a spin - we are mighty proud of it.

Erays - new single out now

Erays is the second single off our forthcoming album Sew Change (out 30 Sept). Lyrically it’s a critical look at cancel culture as the enemy of debate. The title is a play on the word Erase - the misspelling a nod to rays of sunshine (or maybe hope?) that we think the music evokes with treated vocals and hooky Spanish guitar riff over a driving electronic bed. Think Gorillaz meets Depeche Mode!

Needs to be seen with the surreal video!

First review of new LP is in…

Click image to link to full review…

Sew Change is a completely realised album of reminisces, reflections and softly hushed reconciliations, set to a gentle wash of the spiritual, Irish snug and saloon bar piano, a lilted Dylan-esque lyrical cadence and hazy suffusion of synth. The duo expand the palette without upsetting the formula to produce a complimentary follow-up [to their debut] every bit as slowly captivating.

Video for Your Truth out now!

Really excited to say Your Truth, the first single from our forthcoming album Sew Change, now has a shiny new video. Check it out at the link below. It’s light and fluffy and transcendental and whispy - a bit like Maltersers only better for you. Filmed at tremendous expense - thanks again to the folks at Ryanair for indulging us - we think it’s the perfect visual companion to the electronic hypnotic beat of the tune. “It’s a bit like sky to me!” The moral of the story? Stop fucking about - know your truth, live your truth!

Your Truth?

“I want you to tell me your truth…”

OK I know it’s been quiet here but all for good reason. We’ve been making a new LP which is due out in the Autumn. More to follow on that anon - but for now all you need to know is that the first single from it, Your Truth, comes out on Friday 8th July. Here’s a sneak peak at the beautiful artwork by design ninja Gary Delaney. The pic was taken in Tavertet, a spectacular hill town high above Barcelona.

Girl from Margate added to RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends playlist

Delighted with the news that we’ve been added to RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends Playlist with Girl from Margate, our forthcoming single off our album Travalog. Inspired by Alan Yentob’s moving BBC documentary about Brit art enfant terrible Tracey Emin, the tune has been described as “a nice hazy acid wash of New Order, Jason Pierce and Stereolab” [Monolith Cocktail]. The single is scheduled for release on 20 August 2021. Honoured to be in such good company. ❤️

Great review of Travalog in the latest issue of Uncut Magazine…

Chuffed with our write-up in the September issue of music bible Uncut (the one with the Beatles on the cover!).

“Atmospheric calling card from [Rezo who] inhabit a hazy hinterland between melodic electronica and the moodier proto-Americana of say Sparklehorse or Mercury Rev. The varying sonic palettes weave together beautifully...”

Sweet! 😊

First spin on BBC Radio Ulster

Massive thanks to Brian Mullen who played Rezo on Saturday night’s Caschlár: A World of Music and promised to play more from the album in future shows. Delighted with our debut airing in beautiful Northern Ireland. One of the great joys of releasing Travalog has been the introduction to so much new music and those who foster it - and Brian’s show is a case in point. Click below to hear the full thing. The show opens with a knock-out number from Ethan P. Flynn with Black Country New Road.
